At Riverhouse Life we collect different types of information about our users for the following main reasons:

To provide a useful resource in the form of an online address book for office use and to make it easier for regular attenders* and friends of Riverhouse Life* to contact each other (only users that are listed in the directory can have access to it (a printable version is also available on request for users).

To provide an interactive web site where email is used to communicate with the users.

To provide a security mechanism whereby we can restrict content to certain groups of users.

To enable us to fulfil our pastoral duty carried out in the public interest, this is fundamental to the legitimate interest of what we do as a Church.

To communicate with our regular attenders, friends of Riverhouse Life about specific events/activities/groups they have signed up for.

To communicate with anyone that would like to be notified of our church activities.

To help us to improve the service we offer.
* Regular attender is someone that relates to Riverhouse Life through regularly attending various events/meetings organised by Riverhouse Life and through an informal chat with a leader of Riverhouse Life expresses that they are part of Riverhouse Life.
* Friends of Riverhouse Life is some that has a specific heart for Riverhouse Life, they may attend another church as well but are in regular contact with Riverhouse Life church including the leaders.
Our principles
We are absolutely committed to protecting your privacy. Our policy can be summarised in one sentence: we will not share your information with others without your consent.
We have established the following two principles:

We will respect your email and telephone privacy. You will only receive emails, phone calls/texts from Riverhouse Life in relation to areas you have expressly signed up for.

What information do we collect?
We collect information on our users through registration.
The minimum information we need to register a user is your first and last name and a password. We also ask for some further, voluntary information so we can provide a richer, more useful address book. If you would like to receive information from Riverhouse Life we would require an email address.
Who will have access to your information?
By default anyone that requested and approved as a Regular attender or friend of Riverhouse Life will be listed on the online address book and (if they list there date of birth) your birthday will also appear on a calendar that other regular attenders and friends of Riverhouse life can view. These details are not accessible to the public. You have control over your details and whether they are listed in online regular attenders/friends of Rivehrouse Life address book, you can change these settings by login in, click on 'My Area' click on profile and Privacy settings. Your information will be used to build the online address book and printable address book available. Any one receiving a printed copy is asked to look after this data, by destroying old copies, keeping directory in appropriately secure place, not to share data with anyone and to report any lost information as a data breach. Riverhouse Life we cannot control that data once it is shared in printed form. Your information is also accessible by leaders/trustees/volunteers for specific admin purposes and used in line with privacy policy listed here and our full data protection policy..
What else you should know about privacy
Remember to close your browser when you have finished your user session. This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or internet cafe. You as an individual are responsible for the security of, and access to, your own computer.
Please be aware that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information over the internet that this information can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal information in publicly accessible online forums, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return. Ultimately, you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your usernames and passwords and any account information. Please be careful and responsible whenever you are using the internet.
